STUDENT OF THE MONTH

Ryan

We have chosen 1st Degree Black Belt Ryan N. as the Student of the Month for November, 2009.  Ryan is the type of person most instructors dream of having - he listens well, tries hard, and performs at a high level.

Some people the same age as Ryan might make excuses why they can’t do something.  You won’t hear that from Ryan.  He is always trying to improve and challenge himself, and he knows if he believes he can do something, he will find a way to make it a reality.

We applaud Ryan’s dedication to our school and to his own self-improvement.  We also appreciate his ability to set a good example and be a good role model for others.

Please take a moment to congratulate Ryan the next time you see him!

Jae

This month, we have chosen Yellow Stripe Jae B. as the Student of the Month for October.

During the past couple of months we have really noticed that Jae is very energetic about class.  When Korean terms are said, he repeats them enthusiastically.  When a form name is called, he repeats is clearly and energetically.  When he is asked to do something, he responds with a clear “Yes, Sir!”

It is nice to see someone Jae’s age being so energetic and respectful.  It shows everyone that you can have a good time in class and at the same time learn something that has great benefit.

We applaud Jae’s hard work, and we congratulate him on earning this month’s Student of the Month Award.

Nice job, Jae!

The Five Tenets of Tae Kwon Do
COURTESY

INTEGRITY

PERSEVERANCE

SELF-CONTROL

INDOMITABLE SPIRIT

Showing kindness, empathy, fairness, and politeness towards others. Examples include saying "please" and "thank you," responding when someone speaks to you, and offering a welcoming handshake to new students in class.
Being worthy of trust and knowing the difference between right and wrong then choosing to do what is right. Examples include admitting to your mistakes, making constructive choices even when no one is watching, and following through on commitments made in class or at home.
Striving to move forward even in difficult situations. Examples include setting a long-term goal and seeing it through, focusing on your accomplishments and completing unfinished projects, and working hard to move forward even in demanding circumstances.
Demonstrating discipline over your mind and body. Examples include walking away from threatening or confrontational situations, choosing to ignore negativity rather than to retaliate against it, and displaying your emotions appropriately.
Having a strong and unconquerable sense of self. Examples include staying true to your beliefs even against adversity, setting and achieving challenging goals, and looking for the positive rather that the negative in everything you do.
